Waterville Schedule

                         CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Combo 1 Class (ages 3 & 4)
45 minute class with 3 subjects: Tap, Ballet and Tumbling
You will need black tap shoes Pink Ballet shoes and any Leotard of choice

Class focus for the students will be on class participation, standing in line, basic understandings of beginner tap steps and ballet positions . Learning the left & right. Learning how to safely do Kart Wheels and Somersaults.

Combo 2 Class (ages 4 & 5)
45 minute class with 3 subjects: Tap, Ballet and Tumbling.
You will need black tap shoes Pink Ballet shoes and any Leotard of choice

Class focus for the students will be on total class participation. The class will build on the steps learned in the combo 1 class and will progress much quicker. More attention will be placed on the proper use of the right & left feet and direction change. Will work on double Somersaults 1 handed Kart Wheels. The Tap & ballet steps will be intensified and the students will be pushed to stay focused longer.

Combo 3 Class (ages 5 - 7)
45 minute class with 3 subjects: Tap, Ballet & Jazz.
You will need black tap shoes, pink Ballet shoes and a light tennis shoe. You may be requested to get black jazz shoes for the show at the end of the season.

Some weeks not all 3 subjects will be taught. Depending on class focus will determine how much of the 45 minutes will be used for each subject. It will change week by week, so that by the end of the season the students have a generalized understanding and execution of all 3 subjects.
The focus will be put on direction change, placement and surroundings in relationship to other dancers next to them. They will learn formations & how to move to specific places through a routine. They will be expected to count & know when to move and where to move on their own. All of this is preparation to move into a single subject class for the following season. At this stage all students progress at different ages. Some 6 and 7 year olds are ready for a single subject class and some are not.

Single Subject classes (ages 7 and up)
These classes will progress as the class allows, this will depend on how much the students practice away from the studio. The goal is to work with the students in levels more so than ages so that the class can progress as quickly as possible. Sometimes it is not best to place students that are friends in the same class that are on different levels, it will slow down the class.

I am scheduling 3 levels of tap & 3 levels of jazz, each class level will depend on who signs up for that class. (example- the jazz 2 class my contain students that have taken 3 to 6 years of Lessons, the Jazz 1 class will start with beginners and could have students that have taken 2 to 3 years)
Once classes have begun I will make recommendations to the parents if I feel the students need to placed in another class.
If each season you were to move up to the next number in class there would 12 levels. Don’t feel that your not making progress or moving forward if you are placed in lower class.
